Gonna post this here even though its going to be used with an analogue product as the digi boys have been using them for a long time:eyebrows:
I am getting a xmas pressie of a 12vdc phono stage so have read it responds very well to either a linear supply or more so perhaps a battery.
So whats the best option to run it via a battery pack as i dont want a big battery sitting there in fro!t of me. Not sure what the connector size will be so one with multiple ends would be good...an on off switch a bonus

This is what I made for my Chord 2qute dac, sounds superb. I fit a good 2 pole switch and a fuse. Bought a really good charger also.

+1 for the Anker battery - small, powerful, and a nice neat solution. I've used mine with Caiman II DAC, Stereo Coffee LDR Pre, and Pi/iQaudiO DAC. (though not all at the same time...)
However in the end, I find that I normally use one of the Chinese eBay, linear PSU's that several of us have invested in over the past few months. I thought you had one of these Grant? - you know the ones where you can adjust the voltage using the internal multi turn pot. Set that to 12v, and then you don't have to worry about having to recharge the battery every now and then.

Stan linked to a camcorder battery pack for the BM2. It worked really well for about £20. Im still using a big car battery to power my pre and dac-occasionally wandered back to the mains but battery to my ears is quite a bit cleaner.
Do you know the connector required-the wee battery pack is 2.1mm center positive ( can post it across to let you try before you buy something)

Yeah thats the car battery way i guess Andrew. Think a few have done something like that. Maybe a bit too much wires as im trying to simplify.

I did have one but it went to Brian... Should have kept it:doh: yes one of them or an anker pack seems the best option. Alas the anker doent say if it comes with assorted ends

This battery is a SLA type and about the size of a house brick so not as bad as a car battery.

Sounds wonderful! Been playing since 10 this morning and it's now 17:10 as I'm writing this, still going strong!
Ive got a couple of 12v disability scooter batteries in the shed now that I think of it...had forgotten about them they have a fair amount of current in them.....hummm

Well this one is 12Ah, so at 0.5a consumption it should be a good 18-20 hours without having to completely discharge the battery.
Thanks for all the info folks... I will also consider one of those linear psu's I had b4 if I can remember where I got it... Brian just sold one tae :doh: I knew I should have bought it lol... think this thing only uses 100mv so its not a big drain on a battery... will see what size is on it when he gets it, b4 he wraps it up. that will help. its amazon USA its coming from so hopefully it wont be too long. I saw one of those power packs that had all the connectors but cant find it either... bloody old age;)

+2 for me (I have a couple), running 2 pi DACs from these, and you can charge whilst playing...:)
Didn't realise the 20000 was back in stock, I shall order another...
EDIT: Ordered, I'll use this one with my Caiman II and Capella combo...:D
considering one of these.... could double as a psu for the RPI as well

I've had one of those sitting in my basket for ages now, just not got to pulling the trigger on it - let us know how you get on if you do go for it.
