Just a heads up...

One of my friends has just had a call from eBay about a listing under his account that he did not put on himself !! it was for a high value item and apparently the scam is that when it comes to payment the scammer asks for payment other than the Paypal account associated with the eBay account

I would urge you to change your passwords on eBay. My friend uses a Mac and they still managed to steal his password

:(

Normally the ruse to get people's passwords is via email - you get sent an email purporting to be a message on ebay about an item sold or bought and the email itself gives you a link to log-on with. You try to log on to a fake site which records your user name and password, then dumps you back to the real ebay log-in page and log in for real. So the victim thinks it was just a glitch.

In otherwords, having a mac or a pc makes no difference when it's an email phishing scam. Never log on to a service via a link in an email, only ever go to the direct web page. Sadly so many people fall for phishing emails and don't even know it because they didn't register that the glitch they experienced was anything odd...

Yes it's a nightmare Sam that sadly people get fooled by phishing emails, however that wasn't the case with my friend so who knows how they got his password
