Audion Silver Nights Running 300b's Boxed £1000

Nice, but are they PP or SE? :)

I believe they are classified as duel single ended as they run 2 300b's on each amp giving about 18 watts per channel

Hi You have a PM re TL10's

For those that were wondering about the TL10 modification to run 6L6's here a schematic
The amps had a few resisters changed, but it is all easy to change back, this was a common and Quad recommended change mainly for the American markets as kt61's were and still are very scarce,

That Beard P100 is one of the best valve amps ever made as far as I am concerned. Very tempting, but I have more amps than rooms to connect them up in... And then there is the possibility that my acrylic rack might melt from the heat.

Perhaps Stanley i should be keeping it then, i must admit it's one of my wifes favorites as well:smoking:

I'd be keeping it if I were you Jon.
If you can't sell it, I'll give you an address in Steyning, where you can leave it for safekeeping/storage/permanent loan/gift (you choose). I'll pay your petrol money & pick it up from there later!!!

Good luck with the sales!

Chris mate, you and Stan have just made me think i might have to stick it back into my rack (well floor at the moment as it tends to make racks bend and warp under the strain) and make it a keeper;)

The Beard's the only amp of the lot I would buy if I had the money.

Jon.... KEEP IT.

It became an overnight legend when it was first released. I heard one matched to a Yamaha NS1000 and I am yet to hear a piece of British craftsmanship matched to a piece of Japanese engineering that sounded any more enthralling.

The Beard kit was very good indeed. I heard an integrated from them oh 20 years ago ish. I thought it was stunning. On that basis alone I think this power amp would be excellent. Leak, Quad etc over rated IMHO.

I think it was BB 100, not sure though. I have an issue of Hi-Fi News with a review, I will go have a look.

I have refused some great offers on a couple of my gear and I am glad to say that I made the right decision in each case. But before that, I sold or dumped some stuff that I have forever regretted. Like the Ditton speakers I put in the skip, or the KEF104 I took apart just for the speakers. Then there was the Rotel RX1603 that's now worth a fortune on eBay. Jeeeez. I am feeling depressed right now. I need a drink....

Knowing this place, I bet you someone is going to send you a PM in order to find out if they are for sale.
Decades ago I had a pair of the 105 and a pair of the B&W801 Matrix in safe keeping for a friend who was otherwise detained at her majesty's pleasure. Suffice to say I was far younger then, and it was partying and other stuff :eyebrows: for months. The KEF105 sounded far better than the B&W801. Well worth sorting them out Jon. You are sitting on a Old Skool masterpiece.

If anyone's looking at these, buy the stereo 20! A great amp.I would say most people's opinions of it are coloured by listening to tired examples.Renew the caps and resistors and you will have a superb sounding amp. These have superb quality output transformers.

Audions have now been sold , but one of the numptys from Interparcel decided to drop the things which caused a crease in the case, so we have now got a drawn out process of a claim going through, they were shipped in the original double packaging with fragile tape and this way up all over them and the dickheads still decide to have a game of football with them, i just don't get it:steam:
