I picked these up today at the local charity shop,i thought id take a punt for £60.
3 way design so it was a gamble as to wether all 6 drivers worked.
well got them home and took the back off to have a look,all good and untouched inside,very simple crossover it seems.

i dont know much about them but boy do they sound nice,perhaps the dittons are going in the bedroom? lol

nice, a great big woofer (right up my street) cast aluminum chassis.coffee mug for size reference. above this there is a box covering the mid and tweeter,not seen this before.

all in all a good find i think,im off to do some research on them now,im guessing Geoff will know something about these. :)

Used to sell those in the mid 70s. They were overlooked as being a bit old fashioned, with a big paper bass unit and ply cabs. For those less influenced by fashion, they were pretty good!

I've had two pairs of them. Sold the last pair to a mate a few years ago. The drive units are well made, if simple and old fashioned. They actually sound quite pleasant, but there's no real top end resolution (not surprising with a cone tweeter as big as some modern woofers) or bass extension, considering the size. Realistically, they probably roll off fairly promptly below say 60Hz and above 12kHz. It's a lot of speaker for £60 though and the engineering is pretty decent, so you can't grumble. Some people love 'em

lol i new you'd know,
i liking them so far,im gonna leave them in place for a few days and bung the dittons on to compare,to me they sound slighty better,very non fatiguing to listen too (it might be because they are a new sound to me)perhaps they are better suited to my room size and layout,they are very crisp and clear at low volume.

I dismissed them for that reason, mainly went with KEF drivers for DIY.

as good as that Jamie ;) ah well you can strip out the drivers and sell em and reuse the cabs for full range speakers:eek:

im not into bay windows!
besides im enjoying the hunt and trying different speakers :)

lol. They do remind me of that a bit. Good speaks though.... its nice to search and find though
