I have had a boiler service agreement / policy for many years which included free call out and an annual service. Having just had the annual service I have come home to a letter saying that the boiler will no longer be covered at the address due to it's age. The boiler has been here since we moved in 15 years ago. Can anyone recommend a boiler service agreement ie: British gas and advise what is included. Thanks.

Hi Robert. I don't know if this will help you but at the moment I am a member of Which..

The top two Boiler Service providers were British Gas and Corgi HomePlan...

However Which also report the following: "You'll probably save money if you pay for services and repairs as you go along, rather than take out a boiler servicing contract. Our research shows that Which? members paid an average of £70 for their boiler service"

I don't know if that helps at all..

I think when compays start saying that they won't cover you because the appliance is to old one should be ready to jump ship on the old one if anything goes wrong,, it seems that gas boilers realy have a limited life and it can be hoping against hope that the next repair will last. I would however keep it until something goes amoke.
I'm sure if you count up what you have spent on service agreements over the years and deduct what an anual service would have cost,, you could probably have replaced your boiler a couple of times over.

Had my Worcester Bosch renewal through today which I have promptly cancelled. They wanted £220 for the year to include 1 service. My boiler was LPG and is now 8 years old so maybe slightly more costly to repair / service. Anyway I have swopped it for an Air Source Heat Pump.

Thanks Bev, Ray, Andy. Whilst the boiler is currently working fine, I may well explore the option of a new, modern one which should most certainly be more heat /cost efficient not to mention give some peace of mind.

British gas are doing the £400 scrappage deal at the moment until Oct 31st and also offer the option of monthly payment plan as well. There's a very established local boiler service company who've been in the game since 1974 nearby who have good reputation. Wont hurt to give them a call for a quote too.
