Hi there, Im looking to buy my first TT and have a few technical questions regarding compatibility

The TT I want to buy has an Ortolan 2m red cartridge and I'm wondering which Creek Sequel is the best partner.

Links to products below:

http://ortofon.com/hifi/products/cartridges/2m-series/2m-red

http://www.creekaudio.com/phono-pre-amplifiers/sequel-phono/

From what I understand it depends on the output of the cartridge but none of the boards seem to be compatible!

Sorry if I'm asking stupid questions!

40 or 48 are both mm stages . the other is a mc..... a standard 2m red is mm as well so either of the first 2

Thanks for that :) so what is the difference between the 40 and 48?

The 48 has a bit more gain. probably too much for the cart your gonna use. the 40 is the one for normal mm's. TBh i m not impressed that you need 2 differing boards to change carts to a high mc. I would have expected them to have had switched gain, but guess they can sell more units this way.

Yeah it is a bit annoying, it will be my first analogue source so I have no idea if I will like it.

It would be far better if I knew it would match a different cartridge if I don't get on with this one

Itcshould match most mm carts but not hi o/p mc ones or normal mcs.. Depends on its cost as to wherer its worth getting an external stage and putting it into a line level if youve got a spare input. That was you could have the ability to run most bar lowest mcs
