I am considering purchasing a Audio Technica MG 10 headshell to use with a AT33PTG cart on my stock Technics SL1200 MKII tonearm.

How accurate do you think the cartridge alignment will be with this very non-adjustable set up?

I choose this headshell because at 10g it places the resonance frequency exactly where I would like to be.

Hi Michael,

I use an MG10 with one of my cartridges (a Denon DL-S1), and experienced no problems, as one set of drilled holes underneath always achieves optimal alignment. However, it does help if you use a Japanese-designed tonearm that aligns closest with Stevenson geometry, which the drilled holes correspond with.

I also have to say that the construction and quality of the headshell itself is excellent. Magnesium is a superb material for reducing resonance :)

Marco.
