Yes I seem to remember him saying he would be putting audio on the back burner for some time. Think he had some other hobbies etc that needed his attention more. Sure he will return sometime, but think Alan will have more definite knowledge

Many thanks for the concern about my absence.

My hearing has been slowly deteriorating for some time but it has taken a huge turn for the worse of late and I don't doubt I will be profoundly deaf quite soon. Whilst my love of music remains, it will have to be enjoyed on headphones or at levels that would mean we have very unhappy neighbours. The Quads wouldn't stand that sort of input!

So it seems unlikely that an interest in the slight differences between various equipment will be retained.

Apart from that, I have rediscovered my teenage hobby and have spent time on slot racing forums rather than here and hope to rejoin the racing community. This is serious stuff of course and nothing to do with toy cars:eyebrows:

There will no doubt be a full report of the happenings at chateaux Nodrog today from certain other members.

So, I will pop in from time to time to see what is happening in the world but as a major interest, hi-fi is definitely on the back burner.

It has been great being part of this community and I have enjoyed the various discussions whilst I've been here so it's sad to have it end but sometimes life makes decisions for you dunnit!

Sorry about your hearing. I hope it doesn't get too bad, allowing you still to enjoy your music on whatever format suits best. You know that you're welcome here anytime! :cool:

Both ears are down to about 10% so I can only operate with aids. Even the ones I have with the speakers in the ear are not exactly accurate so the sound from speakers is distorted and I haven't yet adapted to hearing the world through the same filter. Maybe in time.

It's a family problem, my mother was very deaf and her brother was stone deaf. I seem to have inherited all the good bits!

I now have to try and catch up with 40 years developments. All the stuff that was second nature now needs research. Just knowing what and where to buy it is in the realm of the unknown.

Just more things for the ageing brain to try and cope with.

Perhaps I should turn to drink and the telly. probably easier.

Life generally is fine. After a lifetime of musical involvement both playing and listening, it would be easy to sink into deep depression about this. However, there is still lots to enjoy and now that I am a free man - from work that is not Ronnie - I am free to indulge in most of the stuff that working keeps you from.

The piano is loud enough to still enjoy and I'm getting back into playing. The cars are fun and I find my competitive streak still exists. There are two major international race meetings in Bordeaux each year so I'm preparing for those now.

What to do with all the hi-fi I'm not sure. The Quads will stay in the family whatever happens but I'm not sure I can part with any of the stuff that has been collected over the years as I missed out on it when it was new. Shelf queens mostly I guess. I can gaze at them longinly and get a bit of sympathy. Not from Ronnie of course. She would just slap me and tell me to pull myself together and feed the chickens or something.

Life can be terrible 'ard.:)

It's when you find she's started growing things in the cabinets you really have to start worrying, Gordon. Good to see you have your chin up. As for Hifi and inheritances, I seem to recall Ronnie mentioned something about those ESL57's and "cold dead hands" ;)
