View Full Version : WANTED - early 1970's Cambridge P50/P60 knobs...

Help please if possible...

Many moons ago, I was given on permanent loan a Cambridge P50/T55 pair. The amp was lent to a friend who's a member here and was used at a Scalford show in one of the 'Cheap as Chips' systems. In the good few years that followed, the amp's been in storage and one of the knobs has disappeared (the power one I think). The original owner would now like the amp back as it's not being used, but I can't give it back without the knob. I'll happily donate the power knob from the tuner if needs be, but in the meantime, I'm throwing out a plea to anyone who might possibly have an amp like this in non-working condition that could be cannibalised for parts such as this... I DON'T want a complete amp...

Hope some kind soul here can help. I really didn't want to fork out thirty quid or more for a used amp in working condition..

Hi David, can you take a close up picture of the knob, particularly from the rear showing the spindle configuration.

What diameter is it? I will gladly look through my spare knobs box to see if I have anything suitable.

I'll extricate the tuner and have a look. Thanks for interest (I haven't collected the amp yet). These knobs are flat satin finished cylinders with a groove cut down one side on all but the tuning knob and so far, I haven't found a commercial equivalent.

Here is a pic from a grubby T55 power knob - the same as on the P50 etc.

Diameter is 21mm with a 1/16AF Allen set screw. Finish is more satin than 'spun.'

Had a p80 from about '79 which got mothballed after I picked up my Radford in '81. Srapped it after I buggered it up messing on with it years later Anyway ,after pulling the house apart after seeing your post,I think I may have found the knobs you need ,pm me your details and I'll stick one in the post.Hope it's exactly what you need your's Mick

I seem to recall the P80 being very tightly packed with components.

Had a main volume and a preamp vol which you had to adjust so the green led stayed lit up and the red led flickered only on the louder parts of the music.Used it with Nightingale NM1 speakers[remember those] and Thorens 166 t/t.Happy days:)

Just to add that it had din sockets that were a p.i.t.a to use as they were located under the amp in a sort of recess .

Yes. They were made by the guys that eventually set up Falcon Electronics I believe
