I picked this little tinker up yesterday. I love it.

I use one too. Lovely 'fit and forget' turntable! I like that you can't change the arm on it, the whole package is superbly musical. One thing that I've found that works well is using an ultra-light magnesium headshell if using an MM cart. Adds some agility and air, better bass etc.

...my Technics SL-1210 is in the upstairs store room. ;)

Glad you found one, Steve. Looks like my PL-71 has been reprieved!

That looks lovely; didn't realise you couldn't change the arm though.

You wouldn't really want to, after hearing the arm that's on it! They are a very decent sounding combination indeed.

The arm looks very similar to a Rega R200

No coincidence since they're both fine and often under-rated arms, from the same manufacturer (Acos?) and most probably the same design.

Great turntable, Steve - a veritable classic! Like the other guys have said, everything on it just 'works'.

Is that a re-bodied 103 I see strapped onto the end of the arm? If so, that'll sound great... Enjoy!

Marco.

A great TT and arm combo, there's a synergy in play for sure, still use mine now and then...

Hi Marco. Yes indeed it is a re-bodied 103. It sounds brill with live music. Has great shimmer and speed around drum kits and percussion. Very pleased with it. I'm not thoroughly convinced if its a good match for the Pioneer though.

The arm needs more mass it's approx 18g as standard, swap that headshell for something heavier and more rigid. You'll need to add something to the counter weight to compensate. I use a 103SA on mine and it works well.

Steve I have a Sumiko HS-12 headshell somewhere, no tags, will send it if I find it (will have a look!) as it's no longer needed in my system. Worked nicely when I used a DL103.
