View Full Version : Fitting new Toslink input in Dac
Been playing around with various optical cables of late, and I noticed that the optical input on my Young Dac doesnt have the little door that locks it, and the plastic socket is a bit chewed...leading to a loose fit cable.
Not ideal!
So...
looking to refit a new Toslink module if possible...
Are they all of a muchness or is there better quality ones out there?
Ta much. :)

Going off the spec it will only handle 24/96, so it looks like it's just a generic part.

They are not all the same. Most are only good for data rates (NRZ) up to 8MB/s, but there are some available that are designed for 15MB/s or more. I use a 16MB/s version on the BMII and CMII. In general the base fitting are the same, but the mounting could be different. Some need to be screwed to the back panel, whilst others rely on just the soldering to the PCB.
If you can't find a suitable one then just PM me your address and I'll send you one of mine to try and see if it fits.
Cheers Stan, nice one thanks. :)
Looks like this, similar to yours?

Yours looks like the one that screws onto the back panel. take a pic from the inside that shows the TOSLINK socket from the back. I have/might still have a type that is similar if not the same.
Couple of Pics Stan, thanks for taking a look. :)

Took the screw out and it was still attached to the PCB
