What a great bargain. I reckon you have made a good buy there, Rob. Deal of the century!

How are you doing with these Rob, they are somewhat different to the standard P17 design which I have had for about three years now.
I would love to know what different the seperate bass enclosure has on the sound of the speakers, are these an official Lampizator design or is it an idea by someone else. I haven't been able to fault my speakers really and I have never kept a pair of speakers quite so long as these, all I have done is a xover change to modern components thanks to the help of Paul Coupe , Reffc.

Having only had them for less than 2 weeks it is really too early to say what I make of them. Initial impressions are that they are a mixed bag, dependant on type of music and quality of recording/engineering etc. Of course rooms are the biggest problem when accommodating a new set of speakers. I am getting some boom with the bass at certain frequencies, but that is nothing new.

You say that these are somewhat different to the standard P17 design. They use the suggested Saba Green Cone Mids and Tweeters and the specified crossover values. The Bass units are Eminence and in an open box enclosure. The dimensions of the baffle and bass "box" are within the range specified by LZ. Are you saying that all drive units should be on one baffle?

The crossover components are Solen caps and Iron Dust Core inductors.

Yes, I'm just saying that the conventional P17s have all the drivers on one baffle, I wouln't know ho much of a difference that makes at all. With a big Colin Wonfor Class A amp I get oodles of really good and decernible bass, there is a boom in places but I woud say that is more to do with my room, but overall the bass is very clear and communicative, I'll try and post a picture in a few hours.

Yes, in the main the bass is great. Drum solo's are right there in the room. I have today wired the Mid and Tweet in series (I was concerned that the schematic seems to suggest Parallel wiring for all 3 units) and the integration is much better and as a result of the re-wiring the output is slightly less and more to my liking. They do an awful lot of things well, but as with all new things you can be too hyper critical. I have a JLH 10w Class A amp that needs attention to one channel which I must get working and try that. Yes a pic of yours and the crossover would be v.helpful.

All I seem to have is pictures of my speakers head on and not so much from the side

I can't get the design of the Xover up as its on a piece of paper at home and I'm in hospital for a wee while. I don't believe it's too far from the original

Just using modern components and steering away from the Russian caps. I'll get the xover design up in a few weeks
