clearaudio drive belt

i was recently given a pile of hifi mags by a friend and I remember reading an article about clearaudio turntables ,there was a little tip about reviving the performance of the drive belt by washing it (I think) ,which would return it's condition to almost new ! , but I cannot remember the exact details . can anybody help ?? after all a new belt is about £38 and if one can extend the life of the existing belt , then all the better

I've always washed drive belts periodically. A bit of warm water and washing up liquid, followed by a good rinse does the job. No doubt some will say that's not the thing to do, but I've had no problems.
