I am very happy with my Bushmaster Mk1,do i need a Mk2,and will i hear the difference

I do most of my listening with a squeezebox touch and spotify premium,I find my Bushmaster Mk1 very easy to listen to.
Is it worth me scraping some of my pension money away to upgrade to a Mk2 ???.Or should i pay the gas bill:scratch::eyebrows:

It is with the new firmware. I find my BMII extremely pleasant to listen to when used with my SBT.

I changed from Bushmaster Mk1 to a Caiman Mk2 and thought it was a very noticeable improvement from the start and the upgraded firmware improved it even further.
I felt it gave a more natural presentation making it easier to follow the different strands, but still kept all the parts playing together beautifully.

With Stan's money back offer it really should be tried, I can't imagine he gets many back from existing customers.

Thanks to Stan's generosity and excellent service i am now the happy owner of a BM MkII.I AM AMAZED at the difference,after only a day burning in i am getting the impression that i have bought some new speakers and a CDP in my sleep,my whole system has upgraded by several degrees.I just wish i had taken notice of the reviews on AOS earlier.:doh::eyebrows:

Hello everyone and also StanleyB. I can also use some advice. I myself have an AKG Q701 headphone (bass port modded) and use it in combination with the Beresford Bushmaster MKI. I am extremely happy with it!

Now my father is eager to buy an AKG headphone. He mostly listens to classical music and jazz, just like me. He also wants a Q701 but these have become a bit more expensive lately. Now he wants to bite the bullet on the K702. I know, I know how many posts have been written on the supposed differences between the K701 old an new, K702, K702 annies and the Q701 but

1. There isn't probably a world of difference between my bass port modded Q701 and a new K702, to which I also can apply the bass port mod, right? :-) Or should we also look at the K712?

Now the difficult part of the question: he is also looking into a DAC. He was also very impressed with my MKI Bushmaster. Now I see in the shop part of the www.beresford.me site that there is a MKII Bushmaster, a MKII Caiman and also a Capella Headamp.

2. Because he has just an ordinary entry-level Denon CD-player he probably should buy a DAC, not the Capella, right? (he hasn't got a budget for and cans, and a DAC and a amp)
3. Is, while driving a AKG K702 headphone, much of a difference between these two DAC's? Is the price difference worth it to buy the Caiman MKII?

And a last question to StanleyB:

4. How much do you think these DAC's will cost approximately when importing to the Netherlands? This because John in Eindhoven only sells the TC-7510 and TC-7520, which I guess, while being awesome value for the money DAC's, aren't as good as the Bushmaster MKII and Caiman MKII.

Thanks Stan, I will let my father know. By the way, he has 2 CD-players he can use as an transport:

1. Denon DCD-510AE
2. Rotel RCD-950 (from 1997 I think)

Looking at these CD-players and concluding that they aren't very high-end, can you say that my dad would probably be better of with the Bushmaster MKII instead of the Caiman MKII, as the latter is specially designed to complement high-end units?

It is not an issue about high end or not. But if it is just CD that your dad would be playing then the Bushmaster would be an ideal choice. If your dad is now retired, PM me once you have decided and I'll do you a pensioner's discount on the order.

Unfortunately he isn't officially retired yet till the 24th of June 2016 when he turns 65, although he is in a kind of pre-retirement but I don't know if that counts :) But I am 90% certain that he will buy the Bushmaster MKII (and make me incredibly jealous in the proces ;)), pensioner's discount or not.

When this will hapen I'll let you know!

Actually I was wrong Stanley. John IS selling the Bushmaster Mkii on Marktplaats for 259,99 euro. That will probably be cheaper as buying on your site I think?

Okay, thanks Stanley. Maybe a difficult question to answer but when listening to an AKG Q701 or K702, will there be much of a difference when using:

- TC-7520
- Bushmaster Mk II
- Caiman Mk II

I know the TC-7520 is a bit older but at the moment only 179 euro's on Marktplaats when bought by John. Or do you think my dad will hear the difference after listening to my Bushmaster MkI.

Excuses for all the questions but my old man is someone who doesn't buy or upgrade these products often and somehow has a hard time making decisions when spending these amounts of money (then again, who doesn't? :))
