where to buy vintage

apart from on this forum e bay and gumtree , can anyone reccomend where i can look for vintage hi fi seperates in good working condition
im getting very frustrated with the words for parts not working
or charity shop listings

You haven't said what exactly you are after Craig. There may be members who have something suitable. Decide what you need and put a wanted listing in Private Exhibitions. You could get lucky.

I bought my Thorens TT from Hi-Fi Hanger and can concur that Steve is a nice chap. Had the Thorens serviced at Audio Gold after picking it up. I have been buying/having repairs done there for some time now. They have a good large stock of equipment but is a bit overpriced often. Nice folks though who have helped/advised a novice like me in a very non pushy way

http://www.hifido.co.jp/ They have several outlets. If you are interested in EMT turntables, they always have at least one in stock. When I was last in Tokyo they had three. Siemens/Klangfilm Eurodyn cinema amplifiers and speakers are another speciality. And of course the vintage Japanese classics, Luxman, NEAT, Tango and Tamura transformers, et al.

note, I am answering your question was where to find vintage hi-fi in good condition.. not cheap vintage hi-fi in good condition...

+1 for HiFi Do. Tetsuharu there is very professional and helpful. I would also recommend ebay sellers 2juki and foxtan.

TBH, the best places for buying vintage gear, certainly the most interesting/rare stuff, is from Japanese sellers (such as above), so be prepared to import.
