Hi all, does anyone have an experience of the Sony ta fa30 es amp? Are they any good? What should I be paying for one in good nick? Thanks in advance as I'm going to the pub:)

Last 3 on uk ebay went for £171, £102 and £53

The £171 was in the champagne finish so would appear this is desirable.

Good call on the pub it is about that time - although I will drink at home, it is cheaper, I can smoke and the music is much better ;)

Is this a vintage item? If so, the question should've been asked in Past Masters. If not, it's ok here.

Marco.

I picked up one of these earlier in year for about £120
Really glad I did
I would describe the sound as very detailed, if I was being really critical I would say possible a bit dry
Have had it connected to Castle Warwicks and KEF Coda III and sound great with both
Used the Sony in place of a old NAD 3020i and straight away was really pleased quite a leap upwards sound wise

I have a Sony TA-FB940R. Don't know where in the Sony stable this fits with the FA30, but it is a very good amp.

Nearly £200 is probably a reasonable price but more than I would pay now as I am skint
Mine didnt come with a remote and has some scratches
I have been looking at other Sony ES kit but only the really cheap stuff

The one on eBay does have a remote and other than a light scratch on one side it looks in good condition. There's an itch to scratch......

I've had one. Usual solid Sony build and decent power. An exciting listen if not the most detailed. Don't spend more than a ton.
