Up for sale are my Mingda MC805A monoblocks.

I'm downsizing and reluctantly putting these superb amps up for sale. These amps are the most powerful SETs you can buy for sensible money. Having the purity of a SET amp with all that power is astonishing and they can drive most speakers no problem. They can dish out 40 watts a channel which is usually far more expensive in a SET amp. Can demo. They have 8 and 4 ohm output taps.

The amps run on 220 V. I will provide an APC line R (1200 watts) 240-220 V step down regulator.

£1300. Would prefer pick up (London) but I have the boxes and can post.

Thanks Grant. I love the clear sound of these amps. They are really heavy too as the trannies are top notch.

Ok, this might [probably is] a stupid question but hey ho, how do you control the volume using two amps with a volume on each, is it possible to balance the volume on both channels easily? OK stop laughing at me and post the bloody answer.

Practice I guess...! I've had monoblocks power amps like that before with volume controls and it can take time to get used to if you are using those pots to control the volume (instead of maxing them out and using a preamp.) and you are also always not quite sure if you have got the balance right.

Not sure if you were referring to these particular Mingdas 805 power amps but if so they don't have volume controls. The simplest volume control method would be to use a sterero passive preamp, or for the very cheapest way a stereo pot soldered onto an interconnect in between source and power amps. Total cost dependent on the pot and lead, - anything from about £5 upwards. No need to worry about balance problems when using a stereo pot.

Thanks Colin for the answer I understand now, actually yes I thought these had individual controls going by seeing the rotary control on the front of each amp.

No those are not volume controls. They are power buttons......
