Well.. there may not be very much in it, but the Tannoy Chevoits have finally won the day... So as a result, my super pair of JBL4311's which were lovingly restored and upgraded by Paul @ Reference Fidelity Components are now up for grabs. According to the guy I bought them from, this pair were were originally fitted in CBS Studio's in Chicago before being imported to the UK in the early 1980's. Full details of the lengthy and expensive restoration and upgrade work undertaken by Paul can be found here (http://www.referencefidelitycomponents.co.uk/restoration-of-jbl-4311-loudspeakers). Believe me, they sound as good as they look... but the Tannoy's just offer that little bit extra... so here is a great chance for somebody else to take these on and enjoy what they can offer...

Anyway, here are some new images taken of them enjoying the late September sunshine yesterday.

The two solid oak bespoke stands with spikes will also be included in the sale. These cost me the best part of £180 to be hand made with the support dimensions matching the JBL's footprint. They also lift the bass drivers in line with most listening positions. This is also the reason why they are positions up-side-down and is a popular position for JBL owners to listen to them in the domestic environment.

I really would prefer any prospective new owner to collect. As you can imagine, four large and heavy boxes isn't going to be cheap to ship. Indeed, trusting the JBL's alone to any courier service is not something I'd be overly happy with. Having said that, we can discuss all the shipping options as and when I get any firm interest.

I know that selling kit at present is akin to getting blood out of a stone, but I'm initially looking for £1200 or very near offers. You won't find a better example of this studio monitor outside of the expensive Kenrick Sounds rebuilds often seen being offered in Japan and they are usually two or three times more expensive and that is without factoring in the need to ship them from Japan to Europe. If your outside the UK and interested, I'm sorry, but unless your willing to collect, this is a UK ONLY sale.

Payment via PayPal Gift, Direct Bank Transfer or Cash on Collection from CR5/near Jct 6 of the M25

Any questions, fire away and thanks for looking :)

It was an incredibly hard decision to make Grant, especially with the amount of time, work and expense furnished on the JBL's... but the Tannoy's just shade it by the smallest of margins... and with a bit of additional work, they can apparently sound even better!

With regards the JBL's asking price, there is some flexibility with what I'm asking for and would even consider a couple of payments if that helps, so if anybody here is interested, please don't be shy... if you don't ask, you'll never know :)

There is no reason why they cannot be boxed for shipping Rich... they were successfully shipped to RFC and back after restoration without any issues, so there is no reason why they cannot be shipped anywhere in the UK... it just wouldn't be very good for me or the buyers tickers :)

I wouldn't risk it mate. I'm actually on me hols in Mexico right now and thinking about making a trip down South for these when I get back.

Do you drive at all? Fancy meeting halfway?

Unfortunately, for medical reasons, I don't drive. But if I did, I'd be more than happy to deliver these anywhere in the UK... but your more than welcome to collect and I'm sure we could come to an agreement with regards the asking price to make the trip worth your while :)

Just got back to WiFi in the hotel after a day climbing mayan ruins, eating tacos and swimming in cenotes.

You have PM mate and I'm dead keen.

 All the Mayan pyramids I have seen in Chichen Itza, Tikal, and in other sites throughout mezzo-American, have been fenced off to discourage anyone from climbing them, and thus cumulatively damaging them.

Apologies for the thread drift!

You can still go up Coba... For how long who knows.

It's a bugger in this heat though.

Cleared some PMs Pete.
