Sources of bespoke equipment badges??

Looking to get a bundle made up, anyone have any reccy's for a reliable Company that could do them?
Thinking small gold plated plaque type, similar to the Marantz KI Signature style badge.

Good question Gary. Ive been struggling to find badges for my speakers. I found someone who makes various badges but not fancy metal ...not cheap either but they do improve the look.

I'll see what I can do - what sort of thing are you looking for? The laser etch laminate is a black acrylic with a brushed finish gold foil on the top. When it is etched the lettering appears black as do the edges - it's just over 1mm thick.

Hi, I'm not quite sure what you mean by "cel plasti" but I can do any design even if it means drawing from scratch (the Yamaha font isn't a standard one) and I created the Paradise one from scratch. Obviously the more custom it is the more time it takes and so the more it costs - such is life. The more specific the requirements the better.

Maybe if the bespoke stuff wasnt so expensive, it would be an incentive to buy (but I guess you'll tell me, if you want quality - you gotta pay) :)

Can get great bang for buck..of course you can...but sometimes if you pay more you DO get more.
Depends (I guess) if your talking digital gear, turntables, amps...all can have different rules regarding "sound per pound value".

Pick yer price point and be happy I say :)

I think possibly the biggest hurdle with truly bespoke equipment is that until it's built you don't get to hear it.... It obviously depends on the degree of "bespokeness", if amplifier X already exists and you have heard it and love it then a bespoke one could be just another one the same but with your choice of lets say socketry, number of inputs etc. However if someone was to ask me to build them lets say a 50WPC class A power amp with wide frequency response and low distortion then yeah I can do that... but even I don't know exactly what it sounds like until it's finished!
The few times I've sold one off amps have been when someone's visited for other reasons (eg dropping gear off for repair) and have asked "what's that?" whilst pointing at some prototype amp and then asked if they could hear it.... the memorable one being the guy who came back half an hour later with £1100 in a brown envelope and asked to buy it... well it was an offer I couldn't refuse! :eyebrows:

Yeah well for my own use I get free amplifiers I suppose as I don't charge myself labour (surprise) and will usually re-use transformers, heatsinks etc from scrapped gear.
It's a different matter for a customer though! Reasonably large manufacturer's will usually buy in casework pre-punched out for controls, sockets etc and already silk screened for legends etc, PCB's may well be stuffed by robot and then flow soldered. It may take say 30 mins to build an amp that would take me 2 weeks to do by hand, especially if I'm doing it as hard wired point to point build. I would obviously need to charge a suitable amount for my labour to cover two weeks wages for myself if all this time has been spent on one amp....

I know and you sold quite a few but most products will have a finite amount of buyers especially if only promoted on forums. Products like the Linn Lp12 that carry on selling forever are pretty rare, so you have to come up with new stuff every now and then. One of the problems with bespoke one-offs is that they don't have as much re-sale value as a well-regarded product that has sold thousands. The uniqueness will actually reduce its re-sale value, rightly or wrongly and that will also put people off from commissioning such a thing.

I'll look forward to your hearing your phono stage at NEBO. :)

I can see what the fuss is about. The guy I bought them from said that once you own a pair of Tannoy's, you rarely go anywhere else after... my only regret is given the closeness of my listening position, I'm not able to turn the wick up :)

Try a pair of Eatons. The prices have not gone silly yet and they sound even better than the Cheviots. No shortage of solid bass either even though they are smaller.

Oh. And they have rubber surrounds that don't rot away. They are basically a ten inch frame version of the 12" Monitor Gold, but nobody seems to realise this.

Umm... They are both black and gold though.

They aren't any size at the moment, they are just computer rendering taken from the CAD files I drew. They can be whatever size you want them to be (40 or 50mm wide is what I was thinking though).

I really appreciate your efforts, there is a chap selling a Thorens logo badge on private exhibitions, but it's gold and to compliment my black & chrome theme of my 124. I would prefer a chrome badge, the ones on fleabay look ok, but they are not the correct Thorens logo.

It's about 50mm long. It's not truly chrome though, it's 2mm thick polycarbonate sprayed chrome.
