Lovely looking kit, KimKod, love the vintage look of the amp, and the drivers on the speakers are very unusual. You need to quit the smoking though, I've read that smoke particles attack electronic components and the sound deteriorates very quickly. (I just made that up, by the way, but as an ex-smoker of nearly 2 years now I am so glad I quit, and have more money for my frivolous hobbies... ;))

And the expanded waistline to go with them, no doubt.;) I speak as one who packed it in 2 years 3 months 3weeks and 4 days 7 hours 15mins and 34 seconds ago as I type, fingernails, who needs 'em:lol:

How do you know it is KimKod who smokes? It might be his partner or the tropical fish that do.

Lol! When people ask when I gave up, I usually say "3 stone ago" - which is about right...:( I have lost a few pounds recently by cutting out the naughty snacks, and excessive takeaways. I still love the smell of a ciggie, though, and if someone invented a non-harmful one at 50p a pack I'd be back on them immediately! :smoking:

That's very true, Barry - shouldn't assume anything, though I think the fish would probably struggle to light one! ;)

Nice kit. I just love that Accuphase amp - definitely on my Wish List!

You could try putting one of Stan Beresford's DACs on the end of the Marantz CDP - I think you would be pleased. :)

Nice system KimKod and thanks for sharing :)

I'm not sure if you've been asked this before, but as I can't see the details (or a thread in the Welcome area) I'll mention it... What's your first name and where are you from, mate? :smoking:

Marco.

My tastes are Heavy Metal, but since i have a decent hiFi system (it begin with a Marantz PM6002), i listen things like etnho music, Jazz, Classical, Vocal, etc... I think that i'm descovering music...

It's definitely a good amp. I gonna have him for a long time. The Stan Beresford's DACs are good?

Hi José,

If your system encourages you to explore and enjoy new music, then you can't really ask for much more.

Enjoy the journey.

Yeah, that's exactly where the problems start  Once the upgrade bug has bitten, there's no way out. At least I have not found it yet...

Anyways, quite a nice system you got there, Jose ;)

Hi all

It's been a while and though I did many experiments and some upgrades, but lately I've spent more time listening music and with my 2 year old daughter:kiss:.

I made some upgrades and some experienced with CDP’s. Had a Micromega Stage 6 (I miss a lot this player) and now i have and i want to keep the Primare D30.2 MKII. The Micromega (bitstream) and Primare (4 X PCM1704 24-bit/96kHz) are very different sonically, but they give a great pleasure to hear. Recently also finally got the Radford WS1 already playing. Beautifully sound, the TDA1541A-S1 is what we already know.

As for cables and Interconnects, did many experiments, tests and exchanges and finally from some time I have an excellent synergy between devices.

I can not change the Amplifier. I heard a lot and had some borrowed from friends at home, but I'm addicted to the Accuphase.

The Speakers were spaced between them creating a bigger stage. Defined and fast. Also borrowed from friends and dealler’s had at home a few other speakers, but I think the Proac are excellent with the amplifier.

As for HiRes, 8 months ago i acquired a Musical Fidelity M1 DAC + HiFace USB to RCA + JRiver and is very nice combination. When i have an opportunity, would like to upgrad to MDAC that have more inputs and a HeadphoneAMp.

Currently the CDP’s are no longer as in the photos, the Radford went down and Primare up. I had to give more space between them as they were to overheat.

Well now is to listen and listen….:D Till upgrade bug bite… hope it take time…

Hi KimKod

Beautiful kit you've got there! Love the Accuphase looks!
Are you sure you dont already have a very good source component in your Marantz? I believe they perform REALLY well as a transport into a good DAC of your choice. They sound really good on their own also IMO, especially this one which i belive is using the famed Philips TDA-1541 DAC?

Hi Mike,

The Marantz CD 60 have a Philips TDA-1541 and was modded by a specialist and sounded very good till i found that RadFord with Philips TDA-1541A S1 sounded even better without any modification. So i sold the Marants a long time ago.

Nice little system, I'm a big fan of those proacs... a friend of mine bought a pair of these a few years ago and I went with him to demo them. He paired them up with Cyrus gear which isnt to everones taste but he was very happy.

The amp looks well tasty too... nice and retro.

All the best!
