Wanted - Shure N75ED Type 2 Stylus

I'm helping out a fellow forum member by getting their turntable up and running, and they have a Shure M75ED Type 2 cartridge, but the stylus appears to be a bogus one that doesn't match the cart, and sounds the worse for it. It's stockier than the finer N75ED Type 2 in my own cart, and to be honest a lot of the 'drop in replacements' out there on the internet look pretty similar - more heavyweight.

I'm hoping that someone here might have a spare N75ED Type 2 stylus kicking about that they would be happy to pass on. Obviously let me know how much you'd be looking for it :)

i can't help with a stylus i'm afraid, but i do have a Goldring epic cartridge with stylus lying around doing nothing, i know nothing about it with regard to quality/price etc but your welcome to it if it helps you out.
on inspection with the naked eye all seems well and as it should be, pm me your address and i'll send it off, suitably wrapped of course.

i have an n75ed here but as you say it has the more stockier needle fitted, i know the type you require as my dad still uses one, and his has a very fine needle.

Thank you everyone for your kind offers of help! Dave DSJR stepped up to the mark a few days ago, so hopefully I will have one which will meet my needs very shortly (postal service willing!).

I must admit that I'm really chuffed by the response my request has generated. It just goes to show what a great bunch of people you all are!

Whatever you do, don't ever get rid of your old bits and bobs... you never know who might find themselves in need in the future :)

I think Jico in Japan make some very good "pattern" copies of popular styli and I see that they've finally come up with a VN5MR at a fair price and their custom VN5 "SAS" for a few quid more. before I even think of replacing the VN5MR my dear lady inadvertently broke some months ago, I'd like to read how someone better off than me got on :)
