Hello from rainy Manchester

Hello, I am new to this forum but not to this addictive hobby. Very varied collection of music but mainly Rock, jazz, folk - mostly of a vintage as I am too! Have been keen for my music to sound good for as long as I can remember, well at least 30 years. Currently enjoying being able to buy new vinyl again!

Thought I had bought my last record player with my 30 year old linn but....last week my EAT e-flat arrived ;-D it joins my Karan amp and some ( temporary) tannoy DC8s, oh and a DCS p8i for the little silver disks too.

Good job my new turntable arrived last week as my DCS CD player has just given up the ghost -ooch. It's not going to be a cheap repair :-(

The turntable is a bit if a challenge as it's the first time I have set up a cartridge - a bit nerve racking with my dynavector Karat 17d3 with the shortest cantilever known to man. Not sure I have got there yet. It's had a fair bit of use in my old lp12 / Aro so we'll run in.

Initial thoughts on the e- flat are very impressive. The Aro was great but not at the bottom ( or top) end. The e-flat is also a unipivot and has that smoothness but with the high mass deck can do the low end exceptionally well. It has not quite the same air around the instruments.. ....yet but I need to work on the set up a bit more yet.

Yes, it is a lovely deck, just getting used to it but initial thoughts are that it is very musical.

I moved about 18 months ago to a much smaller house - my living room used to be 20' x20' but now it's in a second bedroom about 12 x 12. I had some avalons in the old house which I loved. I sold those as they were just to big and needed space around them. What comes next? Not sure but I recently heard the latest smaller avalons, the Idea which were lovely but may still be too big ( and expensive)!

Thank you, I must say I have been made very welcome.

Yes, I'm close to cheadle so I have discovered audio works although the kit mostly predates my move to Manchester so just a bit of a coincidence! I did buy a cocktail x10 from them though for my living room which is nice and convenient. They have just taken on Avalon which is where I recently heard the ideas which are very very nice!
