If your not counting postage it should be managable

Vintage Trio KA-2000A as an amp for a start. Occasionally they go for £20 (ish) and sound bloody amazing!

For the CD player I would recommend an old Marantz, doesn't really matter which model. They are, in my experience, all pretty good and can be picked up quite cheaply. I have a very old CD50 which is very good and can be picked up for about £50 and other models will be even cheaper

You can do it no problem

My main system is a Cambridge audio A1 mk3 that was £30 with postage Denon dnc 100 was about £20 with postage, kef coda 8s i found in a charity shop for.... £5! ( ok so the kefs were a crazy find at that price but I also have tannoy m3s i got for £30 from another charity shop and some mission m7s0 that were £17.50 from gumtree) oh and a kenwood double tape deck for a £5 from the carboot.

I have a sanyo tuner that was £5 ish with postage..so main rig £60 total with out cables,

Im using home made twisted ethernet cables for speaker cables at the mo £1 poundland. :)

Actually the vintage sony 212 that is running my computer audio via the tannoys was only £22.50 of ebay and that came with speakers.
( a very 80s pair of fishers )

I honestly think you could get a tuner speakers and amp for under £50 ! Old Nad tuner around £5 old Nad amp or Cambridge around £20 and speakers kef or mission etc around £10 it's just for a small computer room 6feet by 9 feet ! My main hifi is in the master bedroom

and some blutak.

Yes, as it is a bedroom system and you will need that for sticking posters on the walls. I recommend something from Dio:

keep an eye out for a Cambridge audio (sold through richer sounds) CD4 cd player, these sound much better than their usual selling price would suggest...about 20 quid or less.
the "tuned by pink triangle" fluff on the back panel seems to be quite true.
I would also keep a lookout for good quality mini system speakers. these seem to appear often on carboots etc as they are replaced with brit stuff early on as per magazine advice.
I picked up a Yamaha pair in piano gloss and very good nick for a fiver recently...sound not bad at all in the bedroom.

I'd be looking at tuner amplifiers...unfashionable and
only one lot of postage to contend with. I'
Possibly at NAD, the less fashionable B and O combos or if you got lucky one of the lower output but still excellent Tandbergs.

I'm sure there are other tuner-amplifier or receiver gems out there - maybe others have some other suggestions?

Cdp....maybe Sony playstation? Or I second Marantz as sounding ridiculously good.

Speakers....Mission...Goodmans Magnum etc are a bit under the radar if you were lucky...Genexa lx5 pro are good if you wanted something small.
