im trying to get the caps off the speaker terminals on the back of my Denon 350 SE amp to put in banana plugs instead of the bare wire but cannot move the caps I've used a small screw driver and small scissors but they won't budge !! Does this amp accept banana plugs ? Thankyou for your help

Most likely Michael. If they dont come out easily then they are likely just bare wire or spade like the cambridge power amp was apparently.

With my Cambridge amps I just got a 4mm drill and drilled holes for banana plugs.

Simple Answer is no...I tried to remove them too so bare wire is the alternative. Good Amplifier i'm using mine at present...

It is a good amp Dan I love it a big improvement on my 30 year old Nad 3020e which I sold on eBay last week for £67 so not to bad ! The caps took a lot of getting off but I'm happy with the banana plugs now great fit on amp and into my tannoy V1 speakers

The EU is trying to ban the use of 4mm banana plug and sockets for speaker connection on amplifiers, so those familiar "5-way" binding posts you see on many amplifiers, now have the socket hole filled by a plastic plug.

The reason for this? Well just blame the Swedes - their mains sockets have two unshuttered holes of about 4mm diameter. The nanny EU are worried that some might try to plug their speakers into a convenient mains socket! (It's possible that all this is apocryphal, though it sounds highly plausable.)

Rediculous state of affairs...I am sure that has happened but banning a product thats been in use for an age because of a fear the some dopey Swede is going to plug his speaker sockets into the mains is pretty pointless. Another reason the EU needs a major reform....perhaps we need another war;)

I hate busybody jobsworths who try to justify their existence by poking their noses in and buggering things up for everybody.

Like the daft restrictions on maximum vacuum cleaner power and the fact you can't buy weedkiller that works any more or get creosote. Bastards!! :steam: They can all F**k Off!! :steam::steam:

I'm perfect calm. Repeat. I'm perfectly calm.

Yes. That's another. Good job I've still got loads of the old stuff! :)

I've not soldered anything in years but I did find a reel of the proper stuff last month so if the need arises, I'm sorted. In fact it probably will as I will need to solder some cables to that drive unit you sent me.

Don't forget, you can series the coils to give 8 ohms.
