Hi,

I've been browsing for a few years and thought I'd take the plunge and sign up. I've always had a bit of a thing for stereos collecting vintage Sony FH Boomboxes and dismantling old radios. Only very recently I've become interested in higher end gear buying myself a chrome bumper Nait 2 and some Linn Kan MKII's. I'm seriously impressed with this little system and want to expand my horizons further with some high end source components. At the moment I'm fluctuating between using the on-board DAC's in both my laptop and Bravia TV - the TV sounds to my ears considerably better. I've been eyeing up a Caiman MKII as a step up to this, hopefully it would have a similar improvement over the TV. I'd also really like a budget turntable! Can't decide between a Linn Axis or a Pink Triangle LPT as a good starting point?

In terms of music I'm absolutely all over the place to an extreme degree - I can't stop listening to Sun Ra at the moment, along with Jamie XX's, Mylie Cyrus, Crass, GOAT, Kendrick Lamar, James Blake and erm everything else really. Anyone got any good radio recommendations? I listen to a lot of 6 with Tom Ravenscroft always being the highlight. Also have been known to love some Rinse FM and the occasional bit of Resonance!

Thanks for listening!

Shaun.

Hello Shaun. Welcome to AOS.

Sounds like you're having fun doing a bit of experimentation.

If you want advice and opinions on a sensibly priced turntable, you could start a thread in the Analogue Art section and discuss suggestions.

If you have further plans for your system, we'd be pleased to hear about them.

Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.

Welcome to AoS Shaun,

Wow - that's some eclectic mix of music you enjoy, most of which I haven't heard of (apart from Sun Ra)!

I'm sure someone will be along soon to advise you on a choice of 'budget' TT. I'm not familiar with either the Linn Axis or the Pink Triangle, though if it were me, I would most likely go for the PT. Have you looked at a Rega Planar? What is your budget?

Enjoy the Forum
