Lovely 2004 album.
I've always found listening to this CD rather enjoyable. The recording sounds calm and mellow. Certainly no loudness war shit here!
Anyone else on here has this album?

Oh yes - bought it as soon as it was released.
I love the sound of her voice, though she has been criticised for sounding too much like Billy Holiday. In fact when I first heard her, I thought it was Billy Holiday, but then thought "how can Billy Holiday be singing a Bob Dylan song?".
Madeleine Peyroux has also been criticised for singing without any real emotion. A criticism I can understand, but don't necessarily agree with. My only real complaint is that every time I have seen her perform on TV (such as on 'Later with Jules Holland'), she has suffered from stage nerves so badly that it seriously affected her performance. Would love to see her perform in a more intimate setting of a small jazz club, where I think she is more comfortable.

It's her best album.
I have 1 in collection and 1 - for selling (both - americans).
Yes, I have it too and really like it.
Lovely relaxed vibe, for which her voice is perfect. good band too.

Yeah I've got it as well.... It's not really a favourite. Good recording but yes she sounds like a Billy Holiday impersonator and yes it's all rather soulless. Haven't played it for at least 5 years!

Grant, this thread also prompted me to look it out again.
I enjoyed it, but "No More" is my least favourite track. She didnt feel comfortable on it, to my ears.
No sax on my version. Its a muted trumpet .
Id forgotten how much of the drum work was on brushes. Really nice and added to the relaxed vibe.

Does her 2006 - Half the Perfect World album. Have that similar smooth recording/mastering?
