Nakamichi ca5 control amplifier. 3 inputs plus 2 tape loops and a mm mc phonostage of the highest order in one package. Great condition and uo there with the best imo. Believe Nelson Pass dedigned this in Nakamichi's hey day with no expense spared. These are quite rare now especially in this condition.one on ebay for total of 350 at moment.

I will prefer it to go to a member so say £190 delivered.

Yes it can be used as a phono stage alone. i used to use it this way into a line level on my integrated Jamie. Took a lot to beat it. the firebottle plus was maybe slightly better but not much in it tbh. using it this way is quite common due to its phono stage being so good. if yoy ever get an amp that needs a pre then its is a super pre too...2 for price of 1

so in other words i plug the turntable into the Nakamichi ca5,use the out terminals to go to say aux on my amp?

yes thats it. you can use the pres volume control to give yourself the level of output you want which is a bonus. i used this system for a long time and was very happy with it the upgraditus got to me... have to say phono wise i dont think i improved much for all the money i spent lol

Or use a tape output (marked "Record") and feed that into the 'auxilary' (or any line-level) input of the Sony ES. That way you by-pass the extra circuitry of the pre, and just use the volume control of the Sony.

And of course, if you get a power amp. You'll have a decent pre-amp to plug into it!

It's just a 'mix and match' thing. Many people, me included, like to use a different make of power amp to the pre-amp. That's not to say that a suitable integrated amp is not as good.

At higher levels of power output and of course expenditure, an integrated amp becomes unfeasible simply due to weight and size.

You got a good 'un there, Jamie!

And a bargain too for such a rarity - it's the only "Najamichi (sic) ca5 pre amp and phono amp" ever made!

Seriously though Jamie, you really do have a good one there. Well done. :)

thanks,i shouldn't have bought it really but the reviews and comments on the web made it too good to not too,ive been thinking about a separate phono stage for my amp and this kinda kills two birds with one stone.

You can use the Nak to try your Sony just as a power amp.

It is Brian. Quite an old one but still works very well. I have one of those remotes that you can tune that can work it if needed. It has a soldering iroo burn on front alas ....before i aquired it.. Its never let me down and its as good a sound as may very expensive ones ive tried
