Hello,

I have a rega 2 and cyrus 1 Mk1 amp running into my JR149's. I'm liking the sound a lot, but feel there might be something missing in the lower end. i heard that there was a subwoofer designed for use with the 149's. Are these still available (2nd hand) and if so at what cost?. Or is there anything else out there that would work?

would I need some sort of crossover like in a band PA?

cheers
B

A Bk XLS200 would be perfect - LINK (http://www.bkelec.com/hifi/sub_woofers/XLS200-DF.htm)

There's a huge thread on PFM regarding JR 149s.

I had a pair for a couple of years and loved them but I replaced them with Harbeth P3 ESRs which are vastly superior in every way, even the bass.

Think a JR sub will cost you about £300 or so.

Very much enjoy my little JR149's they are in my study, I am listening to them each day while transferring
LP's via a Linn LP12 SME 2 to easier format with a bit of improvement on the way via a DBX.
The JR149 being powered by a Quad 303. Great speakers, and very accurate.
