Its an unusual occurance for folk to be killed and upto till this year only 15 folk were killed in over 100 years i think. maybe time to call a day to this tradition. not that they will.

Can't abide animals being abused like that, simply to 'entertain' humans. An outdated tradition that should now be outlawed, as far as I'm concerned.

Only if people kill lions up there.
I thought the bulls were killing the people, not vice versa. Or do they do something cruel to them after the run?
The cruel thing is keeping them captive, without the freedom to roam in their natural environment, which they deserve, and instead remaining in captivity and being paraded, for the purpose of 'entertaining' idiots.
The humans killed, as a result of that cruel exploitation, deserved everything they got!

Well I presume they round up the bulls for the event then take them back afterwards. They surely don't keep them penned up all year for a one day event?
Do some research into it, mate, and you'll discover the reality.
Besides, who says that the bulls like what's happening to them, even if it is only for 'a wee while'? Perhaps they'd rather be in a field instead, in peace, doing what THEY want to do??
I feel the same way about the circus: lions and elephants, etc, exploited and manipulated for the 'amusement' of humans. Count me out! :nono:

Ditto. We need to start learning that living creatures were not put onto this earth simply to 'entertain' us, or to provide us with some form of barbaric 'sport'... The fact is, we have no more right to 'control' the life of any creature, beyond what is sometimes necessary to help it survive, than we have of 'controlling' the life of a human being.

So are you a vegetarian, and if not, why not? Surely breeding animals to kill and eat them is quite 'controlling'?
I guess it is, but as usual, there's a balance to be had. Man has killed to eat for centuries, so I see no problem with eating meat (if that's what you choose to do), as long as the killing is done humanely. Exploiting animals as purely a form of entertainment, by subjecting them to horrific abuse is, in my view, quite another thing.

Traditionally and probably still the case was that they drive them through the streets to the bull ring where they are eventually killed. Its a pretty grizzly affair imo, and a bit sad that it continues to this day and is still as popular.
Lets remember I am a dairy farmer .
I didn't mean to provoke any ethical argument about 'keeping' livestock.
I possibly might be in the wrong place for that ,but getting bulls in a condition , fit ,mad and ready to run and then letting them chase down narrow streets while people can have a buzz trying to avoid them .

You're doing what you're doing to earn a living and provide a valuable and important commodity, and I'm sure that you look after your animals and provide them with a suitable and humane environment to live in.
No-one 'needs' the existence of bull fighting - least of all the bulls!
