I have used

Van Damme Blue Series Studio Grade classic pro loudspeaker cable 2x2.5mm twin axial

http://www.van-damme.com/23.html

Sounds great and not too expensive.

You will need a good high wattage soldering iron.

I use Black Rhodium Twirl. Only 30pF/m despite being a twisted pair due to the insulation thickness, very flexible and reasonably low mass despite being a decent gauge so wont overstress terminals. Really good cable and betters most budget cables.

Paul would you recommend TQ or the new copy from China?

So in idiot terms any pure copper wire with say a 1.5 to 2mm core is fine?

It may be. Or may not. You'd only find out from experimenting.

I have a bit of speaker internal wiring work to do and intend trying this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nordost-Wyrewizard-Spellbinder-Speaker-Cable-Unterminated-/291171894140?hash=item43cb32837c

The Van Damme is decent stuff too.

One obvious option is to use the same wire that you use from the amplifier to the speaker - so if for instance, you use the Van Damme blue cable anyway, then consider using that inside the speakers too.

As I have about ten differing types of speaker cable, it would be a bit awkward for me. :)

Nah - think of it as a challenge:lol:

Really, as I'm sure you know, I was aiming the response at Jamie.

My flat white cae is QED Q200 or something similar.

could be Grahame...so long ago. I got it flung in with a system i picked up at a boot sale in the 90s. included tannoy e11 speakers that i only moved on a few months ago to Kondo of this parish. Pretty good speakers and cable. think i got an amp and cd player as well as the guys wife had told him they were now using a small all in one system she bought in currys..he was pretty pissed! id have told her to bugger off:eyebrows:

I have some QED Genesis speaker cable. That would be a nightmare for internal wiring :D.

(Also. I never did figure out what the extra tiny little insulated wires are for. Some Cardas stuff I have has these too. What for?)

I think it was F-200 not Q.
Possibly the QED "flagship" speaker cable of the time.

Surely though geoff it's a improvement over the bell wire used in the Dittons?

And how good is the copy Colin? Time perhaps to let slip the design to a few people in china? Although normally how it works is the same people manufacturing the genuine item simply run an exact copy of the production run alongside...

Hi Col

I couldn't make a recommendation as I've never tried either! There's lots of cloned kit, including cable, coming from China and my experience with many Chinese sourced cables is of quesitonable QC in many cases and you never quite know what quality of copper you have either. Best avoided IME.

Very true. There's a fair bit of info on the net about dodgy Chinese cables.

No way will I give them the formula I might publish it in a book soon instead " Colin Cook Book For Audio" Or "I show you, you steal" which do you reckon will catch on in China or Wessex.
