hi, i have been using the caiman with the latest firmware and have encounted an issue

i placed a new audioquest jitterbug between my laptop and the dac and windows rejects the device (jitterbug)

the jitterbug works perfectly with the dragonfly dac (for portable use) but there seems to be a hardware and /or software issue when the jitterbug is used with the caiman

any ideas??

The USB section of the Caiman is electrically isolated from the incoming power supply feed from your PC. The new firmware checks the clock rate for accuracy as well. So if the jitterbug relies on the USB from the DAC drawing power from your PC, and/or if it interferes with the clocked signal from the PC, the Caiman will see that as an error. The jitterbug is basically messing up the information reaching the Caiman in this case, causing an error condition in the USB audio signal. So remove it, or go back to the standard firmware without data clock accuracy check.

This is good to know the Caiman already does what the jitterbug does so no need to add it - i bought it primarily for my portable dragonfly/laptop setup and in this configuration it seems to smooths out the sound but adds detail so well worthwhile.

I hadn't realised the USB function had been upgraded with the new firmware. I will give it a go and see if it usurps the v-link/glass optical I run.

Sounds like the function operates behind the level of the inputs so it would be an upgrade to all inputs including the USB. Just that the firmware now requires certain info FROM the USB receiver to work whereas before it didn't need this info and so could be mucked around with externally without issue.
