Guys,

If any of you are looking for a lamp to place above or near your turntable, to see what you're doing in low-light conditions, I can thoroughly recommend this little chap from Ikea:http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/00169659/

For a tenner, it's remarkably well-made, and comes with an LED that's claimed to last 20,000 hours. A no-brainer for aiding those midnight cuing sessions, whilst under the influence of alcohol! :eyebrows:

Pretty sure I have the same in red as a reading lamp next to my bed. Good idea for the TT was well.

I'm just in the midst of a re-organisation of all my kit and over the next few weeks will have a new hi-fi rack and TV stand sorted. Once that's done I may well treat myself to a nice little lamp for the TT aswell.

I have a version of that with a clip instead of a base.
It attaches to the side of my rack very nicely.

Nice one Marco but I would like something similar with a bit more heat power that can be used to heat up my cartridge!:)

I will have to get my girlfriend to knit me one. Just think when you whip it off to play your TT and your lovely expensive stylus catches!

A chap I know in London had a cleaner who got his cantilever and stylus stuck onto the end of her feather duster -very painful and expensive!

And before you say anything Marco they weren't up to anything kinky:lol: That was extra!

I took the entire tip off of a Goldring Eroica LO by catching it with a lace tea-towel. The cart had about 15 hours on it and sounded mint.

The irony is I had bought the tea-towel from a Gypsy woman who had ambushed me on my way back to work from lunch. I was already late so I just gave her a fiver and bought the thing. Stupid I know but she was about four foot five in height and width and about a hundred years old and I was slightly worried she might actually have the power to curse me.

So that went well.

You can put it on the side of your bath when you play with your rubber ducks.

Excellent light, another winner from Ikea.

Picked up some more CD racks (Gnedby) from Ikea today, adding future storage in case the range is deleted. I also bought one of the bamboo chopping boards to see if the suggestion they make good isolation platforms is true.

I was helping a friend deliver flyers for his new gardening business and we called in for lunch and I decided to get them.

They are bloody good, I have five of them including two behind the Lockys on the floor as up-lighters. Great value too.

I have several of these dotted around, hi-fi, loft, garage, etc. £2 from the local cheap shop. http://buyology.co.uk/ As they are battery powered and LED, they can be placed anywhere. I have a GU10 downlighter in the ceiling above the TT, so this gets used for finding stuff in and behind the racks.

I have a similar one with a table clamp...

I find having a bendy neck indispensable when I've dropped my nuts on the floor.
.... the lamp's quite useful too ;)
