Restoring the rubber base

Anyone got any suggestions as to how to restore the rubber base to black?

(Ideally not spray painting or applying boot polish!)

I have renovated the appearance of rubber based black items using water based black wood stain and also spirit based leather suede dye. A quick wipe over with furniture polish finishes the job.

Thanks, I tried some tyre dressing gel that I had on the shelf and it works a treat. Comes up in a nice rich black without being sticky or too glossy. :)
