My iPhone 4 is finally giving up the ghost, so it is time for a new phone.
What I am interested in is if anybody has moved from an iPhone to an Android phone, and what your experiences of both are? Would you recommend it?
If so, what phone? There seem to be hundreds out there now.

I have not bought much content on iTunes, as I prefer the physical media, so I have no real ties to iTunes.

Android is more tweaky and geeky, but more buggy. iOS is more solid and fluid with more reliable apps. I moved from Android to iOS and haven't looked back.

iOS is fine if you want to buy into the whole Apple infrastructure. That suits a lot of people.

Personally, I prefer making my own decisions and not have to go with whatever Apple decides. So Android suits me better. OK so that means I have to follow the whims of Google as far as my phone goes, but means I can go my own way with all the other attached devices.
