;) Idiot driver. the cyclist didnt exactly show himself in a good light either tbh but it was a dangerous manouver initially by the car driver that caused it. hope he hurt himself :eyebrows:

PS: i watched with th sound off as I felt the images would and should speak for themselves.

I am convinced some cyclists go out looking for trouble , Who has 2 cameras videoing the ride , Do they think they own the roads ?

No Road tax
No insurance

and he is having a go at the car driver for passing , sounds like he made a meal of the overtake and then wound the car driver up no end . then peddled away as fast as he could rather than get a good kicking for a very irate drive that was his doing

Twat bike rider :steam:

Amazing!

I'm an ex-cyclist, I've broken my collar bone twice and dislocated my shoulder once in crashes on the road that were my own doing and did not involve a car, I have had a few interactions with motor vehicles but with no major injuries. As I'm now self employed I couldn't take the time off with another injury so when I wrote off my last bike I hung up the lycra. With that in mind I have always believed roads are for cars and cyclists create a substantial hazard and need to accept they are taking a significant risk riding on the road and that only quick reactions and good bike handling will get you out of the shit you will inevitable face, not horns, Gopro's or even a full Team Sky outfit.

I'm on a bike 90% of the time
Yes the guy in the car is an idiot however I think the cyclist was taking up a touch too much room initially and then pushed it too far.
I'm well aware of being a lot softer and more easily broken than a tonne of metal and chasing some one like that is pushing your luck for what was 50% down to the biker in the first place

Agent provocateur I think

Marco

Yup, an arrogant and very annoying wee fanny, with a clear agenda against car drivers, who thought that he had a God-given right to hog the road... It's just a pity that he wasn't given a royal cock-punching, before the driver fell!

That said, if anyone had spoken to me the way that driver did, it would've been HIM in the hospital, not me. Cheeky c*nt.

Tony (twotone) gets it spot on, IMO, in same discussion over on pfm: http://www.pinkfishmedia.net/forum/showpost.php?p=2655478&postcount=49

The main problem in this particular instance, it seems to me, was the cyclist's refusal to move over to the left to allow the car to pass, there was adequate room for the cyclist to do this when the car approached so in that respect the cyclist is in the wrong for obstructing the road unnecessarily, as a road user you are meant to keep traffic flowing at all times and that was the point that the driver was making to the cyclist when they had the first altercation.

I'm guessing here but judging by the abandoned parking manoeuvre by the driver I suspect that particular road (where he was trying to park) is where the driver or his passenger lived and he clearly tried to avoid a confrontation at that part of the road but the cyclist still wanted a confrontation which he eventually got.

Indeed. The fact is, if you go seeking a confrontation, then don't moan like a bitch when a confrontation is precisely what you get!! One thing's for sure, if the twat keeps up that provocative behaviour, one day he'll mess with the wrong person and end up shot, stabbed or kicked to death.... These days, you just simply don't know who you're dealing with.

The undoubted message here is to show courtesy at all times to ALL road users, keep traffic flowing, and use the road responsibly, not thinking that YOU OWN it, no matter which mode of transport it is that you're using!

+1
I always try to be courteous on the road and am pleased when it is returned.

I am not a saint all the time though

Marco

Me neither... However, I take the view that if I try to be courteous, at some point that sentiment might be returned.

Try and create joy in life is my motto, not unhappiness or unpleasantness. There are too many grumps in this world, with a permanent scowl on their faces, intent on trying to make others as miserable as they are!

My view with driving/cycling is that the best motorists or cyclists are those you never notice......

? Who said that

Marco

Me! :eyebrows:

What I mean by that is those who just get on with their business 'invisibly', without drawing adverse attention to themselves. *That*, for me, is the sign of a good driver or cyclist.

This is not a FUNNY video, it's actually extremely sad on both an emotional and intellectual level.

Sadly, the video is representative of the kind of selfish fuckheads who populate this world.

The trouble is, too many people today are only concerned with what's happening inside their own insular little bubble...

I'm 100% with you on this point, Marco.
There are a few things I'd like to point out to the car driving public that doesn't cycle as well.

1 - It is not acceptable to expect cyclists to ride in the gutter - the state of the roads in Britain range from fair (quite rare) to apocryphal (more often the case), and often the only suspension on a bicycle is its tyres/innertube. Riding in the gutter is dangerous because of ironworks below the road's surface (talking drain covers here). You wouldn't drive a car through a pothole, and it's not acceptable to expect someone to ride a bicycle through one.
Give the cyclist room.

2 - It is not acceptable to expect cyclist to cycle close to parked cars.
All it takes is for someone to throw a car door open to get out of a vehicle and it could be goodnight Vienna for the cyclist.
Give the cyclist room.

3 - Don't expect cyclists to stick to cycle lanes when they're in the gutter at the side of the road - see point 1.
Give the cyclist room.

4 - Don't endanger cyclists by attempting to squeeze past cyclists when there isn't the space to safely do so. You have four wheels so you don't fall over easy and you have a metal shield around you to protect you from impact.
The cyclist does not have these advantages.
Give the cyclist room.

Having seen the video I can see that there is fault on both sides.
The cyclist was not in the wrong at the offset, but his pursuit and confrontation of the driver was a bit antagonistic, to say the least.
As a car driver myself I hope the police have seen the video and prosecuted the driver - he's an inconsiderate. stupid and wreckless idiot, who should be done not only for dangerous driving, but also for attempted assault.

That the car driver tripped and fell over and hopefully injured himself is rough justice - I hope his fall has caused him much pain.
With idiots like that car driver going around is it any wonder that cyclists are using cameras to gather evidence?

I'm just about to watch that, so will let you know what I think - knowing you, however, it'll be up my street! :eyebrows:

Returning to the points that Chris has made, I completely and utterly agree. However, with this particular cyclist, I can't help but detect a distinct agenda of 'I've been fucked up by motorists in the past, so I'm waging war against them now, and going to get my revenge', which is unacceptable, completely idiotic and destined only to end one way... BADLY!

What he should be doing is forgetting about the bad behaviour of motorists [whilst of course taking acceptable steps to protect himself], losing the victim attitude, and concentrating instead on being a model cyclist. That way, he'll probably live longer and not get into so many scrapes!

You don't pay road tax either, Al.

I must admit I am shocked that anyone is taking the driver's side in this. His aggression is sickening, there can be no excuse for that kind of behaviour, no matter what weird views you may have about cyclists.

Curious ending. Perhaps it was edited at the point that the cyclist saw his chance and kicked the driver in the head?

The car drivers is no gentleman, I would go further and suggest he is riff-raff.
It is sad that such a common person be allowed behind the wheel of a mechanised vehicle.

I do agree, however, if you go looking for trouble, chances are you'll find it - and he did. Just imagine if the driver was fitter, had managed to catch the cyclist, and had a knife.... With the rage he was in, anything could've happened. You just don't know who you're dealing with.

The sensible thing is always to avoid any kind of confrontation, as the reality is that many people die every year as a result of road rage. The cyclist (and/or the driver) were lucky that they didn't become part of the statistics.
