Record flattening

Ok so this is reaching a bit but I'm wondering if anyone here knows of a flattening service for warped records? Ideally in the South West UK!
Each time I think about throwing down 1k+ on the Furutech machine I end up convincing myself that it is better economy just to re-buy any warped records!
The thing is I buy a lot of stuff from all over the world; some very rare and just recently I seem to be plagued with getting banana shaped discs in the mail!
Hence the idea of a mail order service seems a bit ridiculous.

Record in a paper sleeve, between two sheets of glass and left out in the sun. Turn over to make sure both halves are properly cooked. Leave between the glass sheets to cool properly. Obviously they should not be allowed to melt!!

I've done this with some records that lifted the arm over half an inch one side and they are fine now.

I don't know if there are commercial flatteners but as a DIY method, it works pretty well. The level of sun here helps.

Hey thanks for the reply! Unfortunately we are not afforded anywhere near the same level of sunlight. Or heat.
I'd more likely end up with a still warped, very rained on record :-)

This method is cheap and simple and more often than not will work. But the warp can with time return with some records.

I've often wondered this too... I have a few records that need flattening. I have one which has a 'bell warp'. This is where the middle of the record is higher. Been told that is kind of warp can't be fixed but I'm sure it can.

I find that if you store the record in a paper sleeve or plastic one, but not the outer cardboard in between other records vertically on a shelf, sandwiched tight, they gradually flatten. It takes a couple of months or so, but you get less surface noise, an less risk of overcooking than the sunshine method.

I've done this. It works. Also adding some evenly distributed weight such as large books helps.

I bought this a while ago (with the groovy pouch) and it works.
It's only a quite time comnsuming procedure
