I have just added a rega Apollo to my fledgling system.
I have fed it into a Musical Fidelity M1 DAC.
The DAC then feeds my Valve Pre amplifier.
My search for speakers is now becoming urgent, but I am determined to be patient and am still using the Hitachi 3's.

Doesn't the Apollo on its own sound better than through the MF DAC?

I am no expert, but I preferred it with the DAC.
Perhaps my second hand amplifier could do with a service I don't know.
What I can tell you is that with the two units between the Apollo and the amplifier, CD's sound almost as good as vinyl.
Admittedly I have only been listening for hours, but I always think when something is right, you instinctively know from the beginning.
The point is, I am happy, so I do not think I will be making any changes until my state of mind alters.

Sounds almost as good as vinyl? That's some selling point and one I'd like to hear. I can listen to vinyl all day but digital is another story. My ears are soon fatigued and seeking solace
I play digital through dac Magic plus
