View Full Version : Rogers JR150 - alternatives to the Audax HD13B25H 16ohm driver?

I bought a pair of used Audax HD13B25H 16 ohm drive units to replace the two faulty ones in my Rogers JR150, but unfortunately they have the same problem (an acute 'clacking' noise as the cone moves outward). There is no voice coil rub when I depress the cone towards its spider. Apparently failing surrounds is a common issue on these units but I cannot see any splitting or lifting. I'd love to hear from fellow members who have experience of this issue and how you fixed it?

If the repair isn't straight forward enough to do myself, I will send all four units to Wembley Loudspeakers. I understand however that they are always very busy and typically work on a 3-6 month turnaround. So it would be great if in the meantime I could source 'drop in' alternatives to the HD13B25H that will preserve the JR150s sonic signature as much as possible without requiring any crossover modifications.

I have seen these for sale:
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-1-4-Bass-Mid-KEF-B110-upgrade-JR149-JR150-LS3-5a-4-8-16-Ohms-60w-SPH-135TC-/221814046465?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item33a525bf01

The vendor's comments are very interesting if a tad biased! I was wondering if anyone had any experience of them and their suitability as replacements for the HD13B25H?

Many thanks.

Richard, I think you should make contact with Jerry at Falcon Acoustics. He has some drop in replacements I think.

Thanks Paul but I've already asked and he only stocks JR150 compatible Audax tweeters, not the bass drivers.

Does anyone know if the Audax HD100D25 tweeters in the JR150 had ferrofluid? I need to order new tweeters and don't know whether to order the version with or without ferrofluid.
