We had one last week - same one?

There's something beautiful about them and the sound their engines make, despite the gruesome task they were designed for...

We have one of the first airfields (RAF) nearby and also one of the main early radar stations, which opens from time to time - all those old valve radar sets and examples of early 6Ls/KT66/ECC varients on show........ :)

I think I read somewhere there's only one still airworthy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avro_Lancaster#Surviving_aircraft

2 left flying, 17 in total - if you believe wikipedia.

4 Rolls Royce Merlin Engines - 4,000 odd horsepower - now THAT is a sound to behold!

A quick check on Battle of Britain Memorial Flight revealed this (http://www.raf.mod.uk/bbmf/theaircraft/lancaster.cfm) .
