Celestion ditton 25 positive , negative/ positive wire confusion

Recently managed to snap off x2 terminals on one speaker. Bought two pairs to replace . Fitted them but am now gazing at the wires , inside, as I've forgotten which goes where. The two wires that connect to the terminals are black and blue. I'm thinking black to black and blue to red?? I also had to disconnect two wires from the midrange , black and yellow. Again I'm thinking black to black and yellow to red ??:doh:

Thanks for the replies . You ain't gonna believe it but I disconnected both speakers at the same time :mental: as I had bought x2 pairs of terminals. I actually did one and with yellow to red and black to black on midrange. I then connected black to black and blue to red for the terminals. Plugged speaker cables into said speaker to test, other speaker not connected, and switched on. Came on for a few seconds an blew the amp. Apart from thinking I'd wired it wrong I noticed the other speaker cables banana plugs were touching, outer case only, and wondered if this could have been the cause??:mental::doh:

if you have a 9v battery you can check the polarity of the speaker with that. The cone should move outwards first, then in. That is correct polarity.

tbh the only likely way is to open the other speaker and copy its wiring

Being 3/4 black wires, these are obviously the negative/ground wires, could you take the board out and put some picks up?

in all the celestion dittons ive been inside, 15's 15xr's 44's 25's the black was always the negative. as mentioned a 9v battery will show correct/incorrect polarity. mark the wires first next time..:lol:
