I do a lot of crown green bowling ,aviation metal detecting and beer drinking
Smoking and drinking mainly. And watching the telly. The vet told me to take it easy back in 2002 so I've used that as an excuse to do nothing ever since ....;)

These days, 'bon vivant' pretty much sums me up: semi-retired (at 49) and enjoying the finer things in life, after having worked like a dog when I was younger, and also having made some (fortunately) lucrative property investments.
Hobbies, apart from enjoying hi-fi and recorded music, include foreign travel, languages, collecting antiques, consuming fine food and wine (often at award-winning restaurants), growing our own garden produce, attending live music events, supporting my favourite football club (Glasgow Celtic), playing (these days) the occasional bit of badminton and tennis, and driving nice (fast) cars! :cool:
Oh, and of course helping run this place, which takes up a remarkable amount of my spare time!! ;)

Ha , Very good , again!! :lol: I used to do a fair bit of looking for WW2 crash sites at one time with a group who were licensed to dig!
I'd like to get into that metal detecting thing - find another Saxon Hoard, maybe.

I'm planning to do a bit next time I'm own on the Cornish coast. There are some ancient landing/mooring areas in some of the more secluded bays and river estuaries. Could be worth a look. The permit for Crown land (the foreshore) is free.

Lol - I follow Wrexham too, but being born in Glasgow, Celtic (since the days of Jimmy Johnstone) have always been my team :)

In the summer it's Kayaking, sea fishing, walking the dogs on the beach, drinking beer in beach bars.
Winter it's DIY / decorating, amateur radio / electronics, walking the dogs on the beach, drinking coffee in beach bars.

Retired now, so lots of time for real ale drinking, dining with my beautiful wife in multi cultural restaurants, I like classic cars and bikes, I'm learning German and Japanese although the German grammar and the Japanese writing is difficult for me.
I like doing Kung Fu and other martial arts, been at it 49 years now, but since a heart attack in 2006 I can't do what I used to. I still have the same teacher who's 79 tomorrow.

I like HiFi indoors, but on good days it's roof down on the Honda and loads of leptons( code for mph) and we both enjoy motor sport where I like to take the odd piccy, followed by an evening of winning and dining, followed by an an ever increasing pastime, sleeping.

Just been talking to my paramotoring amplifier designer friend. He has just had a dicey landing after a fuel line detached and the motor cut out at 2000 feet. Only a sprained wrist, but an anxious moment. He was lucky to be there, since he had, against all common sense, flown out to sea over lowestoft with an offshore wind, and struggled to get back with apparant motor problems.
In spite of that he was asking if there was anywhere to fly when he comes to visit us in France. Can you remind me if the ever-bureacratic French have any regulations , licence and insurance requirements Alan? I know I asked before, but my filing system seems to have gone tits up

Hi Richard,
You are allowed to fly as a visitor for up to 90 days in France. 3rd party insurance is a must, be sure to tell your friend to take proof of insurance.
If you live in France then you need a microlight(paramotor class) licence but as there is no licence requirement for the UK the your friend can't take or show one.
Technically the wing and motor should be registered and have a registration mark applied to the wing, eg 36QA, but without a French address this is impossible.
Just keep stating 'visiteur', the French love aviation and aviators so go for it.
