Fascia cleaner

I have a lovely Marantz CD-73 on long term loan. Cosmetically, it has very few scratches but the fascia is littered with what looks like residue from some kind of tape. I've read somewhere that the gold finish is very thin and that great care must be taken when cleaning the fascia. Could someone please recommend a suitable cleaning product. I would hate to damage someone else's player. Thanks in advance.

Ive used "De-Solv-it Sticky Stuff Remover" b4 and its pretty good. best to try it on a area hidden first just in case

Be cautious. It can take off lettering and lacquer in some cases.

Applying cheap aerosol furniture polish to sticky tape residue repeatedly eventually takes it of without doing harm. Dab it on don't spray it.

I've always found that WD40 is a good sticky residue remover without being too detrimental.

Baby wipes, if they're gentle enough for a baby's rump, they won't shift gold.
Put oil on it and you are going to create a magnet for dust.

IPA applied with a cotton bud, You may have to have several attemps at removing the sticky tape residue. Or 'Mr Sheen' or any other silicone furniture polish: spray on a soft cloth and apply to the area. DON'T spray directly onto the fascia: silicone polish can migrate and affect the pots if you aren't careful.

'Baby wipes' are good for keeping everything clean from grime - especially finger grime on the controls. I use them regularly on my equipment.

Thanks again for your replies. The sticky residue come off easily with WD40. I then used baby wipes on my amp and it came up well too. Works well for removing fingerprint smears.

As my tip for other people's sticky residue... I get the most off with a bit of sticky tape, dabbing it on and ripping it off fast. Sometimes solvents just end up partially liquifying the goo and smearing it across the facia.
