Afternoon chaps =, l have a 1m RCA interconnect that is very cheap ( sounds coloured, grey, however it is very musical indeed! l really do not want to mention the cable 'G----m' brand it has got me thinking it has cheap nasty RCA connectors, if l was to get my Technical department to change them to the lovely KLA plugs , how much improvement could l expect- l know l am generalising but this cable is soooooooo musical.:) It has me wondering.

No bun fights here.:)

In my opinion, it will be only a subtle change at best.

Hard to say. I have a set of 1 m Gotham cables fitted with good quality Amphenol RCA plugs, that I'm not using. Would you like to hear them before you decide whether to have yours modified? PM me if you are interested.

Those are the ones l am using Barry!:) These do sound a tad better than the Gotham and Neutrik plug l also own, thanks anyway, do you feel the Gothams are musical mate?

So do you regard the Amphenol plugs as "cheap and nasty"?

To be honest I haven't noted any difference between Gotham, Klotz or van Damme cables. They are all of professional quality and are used by professional users such as recording studios and broadcasters. Compared to some of the freebie 'figure of eight' interconnects with cheap moulded plugs, they can be a noticable improvement, but amongst themselves I can't hear a difference.

No, not cheap and nasty, just the KLA's are great connectors.:)

Can't say I was impressed by them when I fitted a set for a fellow Member. (or should that be :sofa: ?)

I don't know the Gotham cables, although hifi dave sold them at one time I remember. I do know the plugs, Van Damme and Klotz bits though. I still maintain that both the Klotz AC110 and MC5000 need a few hours to fully 'neutralise' but when they do, I find the Van Damme cables in comparison just a little bit bit 'messy' in the treble.

The phono plugs look to come from a common source as many other plugs appear to share similar innards. I have used the Neutrik/Rean cheapies for years, although the MC5000 won't fit without butchery. If you can solder, a set of four won't cost the earth (whatever brand) :)

Should have mentioned the Gotham cables are "GAC-1 ultra pro".
