A few weeks ago I was in Torquay, bought a paid for a 2 hour on road stay, placed ticket on dashboard, and went for a supposed nice two hours around the quay and town.

On my return, I was horrified to see a parking ticket on my windscreen.

Was I late in returning? No, there was ample time left, so why have I got a ticket I thought?

Well, it seems that my ticket was moved by the very windy conditions that day, and ended up under the passenger seat.

Now, I immediately banged off a 'contest this penalty' email, complete with an attached pic of my paid for ticket, thinking to myself, how can anyone refuse to accept this , and to squash the penalty.

Long story short, they bloody well have refused to overturn it, and the penalty stands!

Luckily, I had just bought a new camera and was taking pics of anything and everything, including my car where it was parked, and when blown up enough, there for all to see is the ticket, on my dashboard!

Obviously I shall be sending this extra proof, but I question why on earth it has been deemed that I must pay the fixed penalty?

Your thoughts please gang.

Just don't pay. They'll mither you for a bit but then more than likely give it up.

I imagine they are relying on 'the ticket must be displayed in a prominent position'. However, I would tell them to get stuffed and let them take you to court if they are that stupid.

Hmm. I have a similar issue with a penalty notice for "73 Parked without payment of the parking charge"

The charge to be paid was NIL for the first hour, and we were parked for 35 minutes

We failed to comply with the parking terms because I got half way to the pay station and another motorist advised me "the first hour is free" and so I failed to read that you had to display a free ticket

However - I did not park without paying the charge, which was NIL! I parked without displaying a ticket, and they haven't issued the penalty for that. Likewise I appealed online, but have yet to hear back :steam:

Was this on the street or in a car park?

I'm pretty sure that at the time warden took a pic, there was no ticket on the dash.

But as I said earlier, I can prove when I left the car, itt was on display.

I've already pointed out to them that if they had bothered to supply tickets with a self adhesive back, it wouldn't have happened.

I had on occasion when I got a parking ticket where the traffic warden had LIED....

The bitch (sorry but that's what she is!) said she had logged me in a particular parking space and had made a note of the position of my tyre valves... you are allowed to park there for upto 2 hours without a ticket

I had in fact moved my car to a completely different parking space, within the allotted 2 hours, so she had lied that my valves where in the same position, it is completely impossible to park a car with exactly the same valve position to my knowledge, and I was in a completely different parking space as well

I contended the ticket and won... :D
