Hi all,
My first post here. Hi fi (or my version of it) has been my main hobby since saving my first 3 months apprentice wages to buy my first separates system way back in 1980. Didn't have a clue back then (still don't but at least now I know what sound I like) but many different brands have gone through my household over the years.

I have recently stumbled on the excellent Beresford kit, Capella and Bushmaster, was keen to join a forum with like minded people. My taste in music is mainly Classic and Prog Rock. Although if I like a tune I don't care what genre it's from.

Anyhow, that's me, I'll be posting on the Beresford bit as I have some queries with the Capella and "hiss" when using as a pre amplifier.
Cheers

Hello Martin. Welcome to AOS.

You'll be in good company if you like Beresford gear. There's a big following here and Stan Beresford is a contributor. I'm sure he can answer questions.

Tell us about the rest of your system and feel free to post equipment photos in our Gallery. They'd be appreciated.

Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.

Hi and thanks.

My system is:
Linn Axis Akito Tonearm AT120E Cartridge. Angle Audio phono stage but have just bought a Yaqin MS23B...awaiting delivery. Lossless iTunes via iPod Classic on I pure 20 dock, into Beresford Bushmaster 2 DAC. Pre amp is Beresford Capella feeding Audiolab M-PWR power amp. Speakers are DIY IPL Acoustic M1Tlm & M4's (both built by myself from kits) & Mission 780SE

To me...my system gives a detailed and powerful sound. Belly shaking Bass and detailed highs with smooth midrange. Fantastic soundstage (front to back and side to side)

Best bang for buck has got to be the M1Tlm's. Best speakers ever had. Have had Mission 752's, 734i, 760i and 780Se. Kef's, MA's, Acoustic energy, JPW's and Wharfedales over the years.

Hi Martin,

You clearly have some serious kit. I am pleased that you rate IPL speakers so highly. I am a big fan of them myself and since I now have all I need my hobby is to build for other people. If you look at the "drawing board" you will find quite a bit about them recently. If your room is large enough you might like to audition the S2TlK's which are a new addition. I recently built a pair for "naitphile" and he was delighted with them.

Hope you enjoy the forum,

Regards,

Richard.
