Never owned one. Used a couple and decided it wasn't a place I wanted to be. My 401 may have been clunkier, but it sounded way better. Quite happy with my DD TT now. Sounds better than either.

The LP12 was fine until the heavyweight arm fashion really started with the Ittok. The bass went to pieces and it took thirteen years or so to even begin to address it (Cirkus and better plinths).

Enjoy the Fruitbox and make sure it's set up right. Still a few areas (P clip crushing the cables at one edge for example) that many people still don't get right.

I remember once listening to a side by side demo of an LP12 and a Nottingham Analogue Spacedeck. The Spacedeck won by a very long mile. I remember the Spacedeck had a Spacearm but cannot remember what the Linn was fitted with. This would be back in 1997. The Spacearm was an original aluminium unit.

I reckon. Just juggle the suspension around until it works right with the 774.

That reminds me of when Linn introduced the Lingo. This was the same price as the Spacedeck at that time and we did numerous demos of the Linn with Lingo v Spacedeck. We sold dozens and dozens of Spacedecks, taking in LP12s as p/x. The customers getting a better sound for very little outlay...Those were the days..:wheniwasaboy:

I hope your LP12 is an older model. That would probably suit the 774 OK. Compared to the Ittok or Rega arms for instance, the 774 has a comparative clarity, openness and sweetness about the presentation that will complement the musical warmth and depth of an older Linn.

'87 is good as I reckon the older ones are better. Not in any objective sense they are just more fun to listen to.
