Wanted : Floorstanders.

Hi,

So, after having a rethink I am broadening my search, I am after a pair of floorstanders, a budget of up to £600.

I am considering Rega RS3 and RS5, but haven't commited.

Good solid low end is essential, as is postage.

Has anybody got anything interesting?

I have a boxed pair of new AVI Duo floorstanding empty cherry cabs available for £30.

A nice project that would require you to buy the drive units and crossovers.

I was tempted as they are about 25 miles from me.

I've got a pair of Mission MX3s. I wasn't planning on selling them, but you can have them for £150. They're played in, sound great bi-wired and would probably sound better if filled with sand. Very revealing speakers.
Accudazed (Steve) heard them and was impressed, I think. No idea how they compare to the Regas though.
Also, they're in Bristol so transport rather than post could work.
They're not in my system at the moment but I can set them up if you want a demo.

I'm very tempted by the RS5s, can't find much in the way of reviews though oddly.

That is a very pretty pair of speakers, reviews are nothing but full of praise too, I think I'd be amazingly lucky if I found a 2nd hand pair, but I shall send EB an email tomorrow to see what they say.

Are you a Tannoy fan..keep an eye on these....similar speaker set up to rs5's with the side firing bass unit..these are a large heavy speaker unit..and this shop is great to deal with..try ringing Lintone Audio at Gateshead, Tyne and Wear...they may even remove them from ebay if the deal is right...

Thanks for the link, I have never actually heard a pair of Tannoys (apart from a pair of monitors), I'm sure I am missing out on a few options but I have never been drawn to Tannoys.

I have a lovely pair of Jamo Concert 11's in maple finish, these were originally close to £2.5k new, I have them up currently for £750. Awesome high end speaker which can be bi-wired plus has a third set of speaker terminals for high frequency tuning. You asked for bottom end and these certainly have it. I could deliver for petrol money if you are in reasonable distance from me but there are no shipping cartons.
