A pair of Tannoy ST100 super tweeters, which are designed to be used with any kind of speaker. These comes with special stands, cloth cover for protecting the main speakers, some cables terminated at the super-tweeter end, and some beautiful boxes.
£450 plus postage, or pick up in SE or Central London.
These are a superb super tweeter that manages to straddle the line between revealing and natural. They have a variety of settings for different speaker efficiency, and 3 crossover settings. These are labelled as 18Khz, 20Kz, and 22Kz, but that is rather misleading, as they begin to come in significantly lower than these regions. The effects are quite clear, improving imaging, definition, and soundstage air. They even have the remarkable effect of tightening the bass on some music.
A group of audiophiles in South London staged a super tweeter bake off last year which was quite exhaustive. These came out the clear winners on all fronts.
The units are in a lovely walnut finish. There are various marks on the underside, which are invisible, where a previous user has experimented with different angles on the stands. There are some superficial marks on the visible side but the appearance is not diminished. These are a charming visual design that works well with many kinds of speakers, so long as they are flat on top!
They are easy to use. You just attach the wires to the same speaker terminals as your main cables. Just be sure to switch off your power amp before you do this, of course!
