Barry's got the right idea, get out of the country. I've got a mate who does that every year, might see where he is off to this year and tag along. Although I think last time it was Hong Kong or somewhere similar which is a bit too far (and too expensive).

Hmm....I hear rumours that we are getting out of the country for Christmas this year!! And guess where to!!:rolleyes:

One of Ronnie's sisters is getting very frail and it would be nice for them spend what might well be her last Christmas together. So it looks like we might be headed for Catford. Normally I enjoy Christmas. Just the two of us. Great food and wine, no TV and some music to pass the time. Pet hate. Family Christmases, bodies everywhere, no peace, always something going on and forced happiness.

I tried to say I would have to stay and look after the animals but the neighbours have already been sounded out for that role dammit.

Oh well, I am just going to have to buy a few bits on eBay and collect them when in the UK. That will make me feel better.

I used to enjoy family Christmases but those days are, sadly, over. I don't object to the time off work, but all the build up is so tedious. This will be my 47th Christmas, getting a bit jaded I suppose :)

Same here. I hate that pish [screaming kids too, cackling women, etc], and would always avoid it like the plague! I like what you like about Christmas, which is precisely what we do, along with celebrate the religious side, which if you have a faith, makes all the difference as to whether Christmas is 'special' or not :)

Enjoy yourselves, Barry. However, I wouldn't thank you for being somewhere hot at Christmas. That's a time for watching the snow fall down outside, when you're tucked up all cosy inside in front of a roaring log fire! For me, nothing is nicer than that 'warm' and very satisfying feeling... :exactly:

Trouble is, we rarely experience it now!
