Rod Stewart's current dumb blonde says that men don't belong in the kitchen etc etc..
Tough titty. Tell that to the chef in your favourite expensive restaurant luvvy.
I lurve this time of year. What with the fresh herbs growing madly and the fruit overloading the bushes and trees, things couldn't be better. So we had fresh fennel, dill, coriander and basil with the salad leaves today and I made a huge batch of pesto which was delicious with the new spuds - the basil is really strong this year and seems to grow a foot a day so I'm making the most of it, wonderful on the cherry tomatoes. Also started the jam making. Cherry, raspberry and lemon so far with Ronnie bringing in more bowls of the stuff every day. Redcurrent jelly tomorrow and more raspberries.
So, wimp am I? As all that testosterone is pushing all the hair out the top of my skull, I think not:eyebrows:
There is a difference between a real chef cooking in a proper resteraunt and knocking up egg and chips, though. A dumb blond is perfectly acceptable for doing the latter; thus freeing up your time so you can drink lager and watch the footy.

Wrong though. There is an art to cooking eggs that requires years of practice so the white is perfectly cooked and the yolk still runny and creamy. As for the chips.......
Footy IS for wimps though:sofa: Tiddlywinks is a man's game.

That makes no sense to me, seeing as most women can't cook properly. My daughter is an exception, she has many years experience as professional cook/caterer managing a small but very professional outfit that caters to film companies and businesses, but I can cook better than she can. :)
Don't even ask about the wife's cooking!

Ta!
Hmmm fresh coriander and fennel......it's been a while since we had a curry as we are in full salad season of course. Sounds like a plan though.

Ronnie is much better than me but naturally, praises my cooking so she doesn't have to do it. In fairness, she does spend all her time in the garden making sure we have abundant food so I can't complain. Wimp that I am, I actually enjoy it anyway.

Mrs Malaprop just visited.
We were discussing how we were going to strain the redcurrents for the jelly and I suggested that we need to strain it through a muslim!!
I've not met a bird under forty that could really cook. My future wife is fantastic at cakes and sweet stuff but awful with actual food type food type food.

Would that make it Halal?

Strangely, out here they don't use muslin but the cotton bags used for wrapping hams. Probably not halal then:)

I found the wrapper for the bag a bit strange. That piggy looks pretty happy about his translation into hams and chops:mental:

Poor little piggy... he has no idea :(
It's France so the pig won't understand a word. Probably thinks he's on his way to Eurodisney.

You need to go out with women who've grown up in a traditional 'food culture', and so have learned to cook, over generations, from their mothers and grandmothers.
Asians [Indians and Chinese] would be a good bet, or really anyone who's been brought up in a family with traditional values that 'lives to eat', and where food is seen as a massively important thing, rather than one that merely 'eats to live', and sees food simply as 'sustenance', living off of 'chicken ding' every night...
That's the problem in the UK: there's way too many of the latter, and not enough of the former!
Marco.
